RSS
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a form of syndicating updates and edits made to a blog. This can make it easier from bloggers to find content and for blog readers to known when the blogs they read are updated.

XML
XML, or RSS, provides a way to subscribe to web content using a feed reader. RSS feeds and XML are powerful tools that allow readers to track blogs easily and in an organized way.

Useful information about XML can be found at these links:

Google News
Google News feeds are a wonderful resource for bloggers as opposed to blog readers. You can set up an RSS feed to notify you when search items you select appear in Google News. If you do an advanced search on Google News you can set some nice parameters for what kind of news you want to hear about. For blogs focused on a particular race some suggestions are; candidate's names (incumbent and challengers), district information (i.e.; NY-13, NY-Sen, New York City Council, etc.), issue items, etc. This will filter all news articles to you that mention your search items. After you click search to get your results there will be an RSS link on the left side just to this specific search parameter. You will need an RSS reader to gather this content.

RSS Aggregators
RSS Aggregators pull info from RSS feeds a user subscribes to which will notify readers of update blog content and typically a portion or full text of the update with a link to the site. RSS Aggregators can opperate as stand alone programs independent of your web browser or can also be integrated into your web browser.
