Matt Ortega served on staff with the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund in California's 11th Congressional District against incumbent Rep. Richard Pombo (R-Tracy, Calif.).

He writes at The Huffington Post and co-authors The Right's Field, a blog focusing exclusively on the Republican candidates for president from a liberal perspective.

Previously, he authored a Saturday afternoon series on war profiteers in Iraq at firedoglake, and wrote at the blog, Say No to Pombo.
