Carolyn Shannon co-publishes Fireside 14, a blog on progressive politics and community covering Illinois' 14th Congressional District, which includes Aurora (Illinois' second-largest city) and counties in northwest Illinois. She lives in Saint Charles, Illinois.

Previously Shannon published Citizen Kane; she can also be found occasionally blogging on Daily Kos. Shannon got her start in blogging posting rants about mothering and politics in parenting chat rooms and knitting bulletin boards.

Ms. Shannon grew up in the Chicago suburbs, and has graduate and undergraduate degrees in Religious Studies from the University of Chicago, and is a computer programmer by trade.
